Kate Renshaw-Lewis is a filmmaker and artist specializing in hand-drawn animation. She was born in England, grew up in New Jersey, and currently lives in Los Angeles. She moved to Southern California to attend CalArts, where she gained her BFA in experimental animation. Her films have screened worldwide and gained recognition from festivals such as Sundance and Slamdance. Her most recent film, Busy Bodies, won the Slamdance Grand Jury Award. She received a MacDowell Fellowship in 2026. Using hand-drawn animation, she explores how the medium's tactility can strengthen the connection between the viewer and her work. Her films flow with dream-like logic as her creatures uncover hidden worlds. Kate works as a freelance animator, creating works for Adult Swim, Vice, Trulee Hall, and Maureen Selwood, among others.
